Boat wrecks / new diving site
The Nestos
The city of Rethymnon and its divers have been working for several years on a new diving site: the project involves sinking several shipwrecks as well as several blocks to provide shelter for Mediterranean wildlife and plants.

''It takes time''
It takes time and effort... Discover the Nestos and its site, which opened in 2025 and is far from finished!
This large towboat wreck, deliberately sunk, is a real refuge for marine life. In one year, we have seen a very interesting evolution: we are looking forward to 2029 with anticipation (it takes about 5 years for sponges, colorful crusts, nudibranchs, and other colorful species to really take over the place)
"A real movie set"
For lovers of atmosphere and photography, the wreck of the Nestos is made for you. Shallow (visible from the surface when the water is clear), the Nestos and its depth vary between 14 and 19 meters. The slightly creepy atmosphere, the surprising visibility thanks to its translucent blue, topped off by clouds of fish, is striking. It is a boat dive accessible to everyone (masks and snorkels included).
